Most people with epilepsy can safely use a computer and watch television. Only a few percent of people with epilepsy are photosensitive, which means that their seizures are triggered by flickering or flashing lights. Photosensitivity can usually be detected on an EEG, and it may cause difficulties with strobe lighting and fluorescent lights, as well as televisions and computers. However, for people who are photosensitive, the frequency of flashes on computer monitors and TVs is usually high enough not to trigger seizures.
